ABOUT US
FOR YOUR INFORMATION
-
mailing-list-hosting.com is focused on providing
high-performance newsletter and mailing list hosting
at very affordable prices.
Our servers are co-located
at MFN/AboveNet, one of the largest Tier 1 data
centers with over 200 gpbs of bandwidth, 300 peering
partners, and multiple high-speed fiber optic
connections across the country and to Europe and
Asia.
We use Lyris List Server, a
commercial, industrial-strength specialized
application designed solely for managing mailing
lists, newsletters, and discussion lists. This
software is optimized for high-performance message
delivery and features proprietary technology for
tracking delivery, processing bounced messages,
streamlined subscribe/unsubscribe and more! Lyris is
a commercial product that costs from $3,000 to
$20,000 depending upon the options purchased,
delivery speed, and capacity.
Essentially, we provide our
clients with access to this technology on a
shared-use basis without the cost and complexity of
buying the software, configuring dedicated servers,
arranging for high-speed bandwidth, and operating
the systems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days
a year.
In the "old days", this used
to be called "timesharing", but nowadays, the
buzzword of choice is "Application Service
Provider", (ASP) or simply Software Services
Provider.
We have a zero-tolerance towards spam, or
unsolicited commercial E-mail. We require all
of our customers to use opt-in or double opt-in
subscription services and we do not allow opt-out
lists. We strongly recommend you start with an
empty list and build it up, one subscriber at a
time, using an opt-in sign-up form on your web site.
Of course, we welcome the transfer of existing
mailing lists to our system that adhere to this
policy.
We use a very conservative definition of opt-in --
your subscribers must explicitly give you permission
to send them the newsletter/messages. If you
have permission to send a client or customer a sales
receipt, order confirmation, or other business
communication, this does not give you permission to
send them your newsletter. (Please note that
there is no single official standard definition for opt-in; some
marketers claim E-mail is not spam as long as you
have had "prior e-mail interaction with the
end-user". We do not accept that vague
definition.)
